“…13 Additionally, Radder and colleagues noted greater benefit when using a suprazygomatic approach for maxillary nerve block for dental extractions than when using the infrazygomatic approach. This approach is well established with oral maxillofacial surgeons and is used in oral procedures.…”

“…This approach is well established with oral maxillofacial surgeons and is used in oral procedures. 13 Additionally, Radder and colleagues noted greater benefit when using a suprazygomatic approach for maxillary nerve block for dental extractions than when using the infrazygomatic approach. 14 The majority of their patients did not experience any significant discomfort with this approach.…”

“…15 Adequate analgesic is important to ensure early post-operative feeding. 16 Future studies are needed to see if modification of analgesic regimen can further improve feeding and hence the time to discharge. 15 In the pre-PER pathway, there was no regular protocol and some patients only received 'as required' analgesic which might be inadequate in pain control.…”

“…The use of nonsteroidal antiinflammatory drug or the bilateral suprazygomatic maxillary nerve block was reported to have additional analgesic effect after cleft palate repair. 16 Future studies are needed to see if modification of analgesic regimen can further improve feeding and hence the time to discharge.…”

“…Each of these nerves is branches of the maxillary division of the trigeminal nerve. The suprazygomatic approach to maxillary nerve blockade allows a single injection to provide improved pain control for CP repair [37][38]. Overall, pain was better controlled, and fewer narcotics were required for the first 48 hours following Typically, narcotics are used in the United States to supplement the residual discomfort.…”
