Abstract:En coup de sabre is a rare subtype of morphea. Only a few bilateral cases have been reported to date. We report a case of a 12‐year‐old male child with two linear brownish depressed asymptomatic lesions over the forehead with hair loss on the scalp. After thorough clinical, ultrasonography and brain imaging, a diagnosis of bilateral en coup de sabre morphea was made and the patient was treated with oral steroids and weekly methotrexate.
“…The patient A recent systematic review of bilateral ECDS morphea reported in the literature stated that there are only 12 reports of bilateral presentation of ECDS and among them, only four cases were of adult-onset as seen in our case. 1 The median age of onset in ECDS morphea was found to be 13 years. 2 In our patient, the ECDS variant follows the lines of Blaschko as observed by Soma and Fujimoto and was explained by the hypothesis by Itin and Schiller that a patient with ECDS morphea has a mosaic state for genes that predispose to susceptibility for linear scleroderma.…”

“…Morphea en coup de sabre (ECDS) is a type of localized scleroderma that usually begins in childhood. 1 Here, we discuss a patient who had a rare presentation of dual-colored lesions of en coup de sabre morphea bilaterally in adulthood.…”
