Bilateral Diffuse Uveal Melanocytic Proliferation Presenting as a Giant Unilateral Choroidal Nevus: A Case Report

Abstract: serous detachment resolve, but also the pigmentation decreased. Conclusion: BDUMP presentation can be markedly asymmetric and resemble a giant unilateral choroidal nevus. Response to chemotherapy was unique not only for the usual retinal detachment resolution, but also because of an evident regression of pigmentation.

“…After investigation, a lymphoma was discovered. Menezes 18 described a case of a 67-year-old male patient, with an elevated and pigmented macular lesion in the right eye with areas of giraffe-pattern pigmentation and an extensive retinal detachment. Left eye only showed a small hypopigmented area in the perimacular bundle, without evolution after 7 months of follow-up.…”

“…Five reports of possible UDUMP have appeared in the literature, none of which were verify histologically. [18][19][20][21][22] Clinical follow-up when available was brief, averaging less than 6 months (Table, supplement). Since ocular sequential development of BDUMP is known to occur, the lack of sufficient clinical follow up raises concern that sequential or asymmetric ocular involvement had not been excluded.…”
