Bifunctional folic-conjugated aspartic-modified Fe3O4 nanocarriers for efficient targeted anticancer drug delivery

Abstract: Aspartic acid was used as an anchoring molecule for the conjugation of folic acid and doxorubicin to Fe3O4 nanoparticles. The as-prepared bifunctional folic-conjugated aspartic-modified Fe3O4 nanocarrier was shown to be as an efficient targeted anticancer drug delivery.

“…Additionally, tumor growth and volume were significantly reduced compared to free PTX. Folic acid was also included in aspartic acid-modified magnetite nanoparticles for DOX loading and potential application against skin cancer cell lines (B16-F1) [95]. The aspartic acid, a highly biocompatible molecule, contains two carboxylic acid groups facilitating DOX and Fe 3 O 4 surface conjugation and an amine group for FA anchoring.…”

“…Fluorescence microscopy, both conventional and confocal, is one of such methods, chosen for its relatively straightforward experimental setup. Its utilization was identified in numerous original papers referenced in this review [46][47][48]50,51,63,71,73,80,84,88,90,95,[101][102][103][104]110,117]. It allows for studying extensive cell populations or relatively sizable tissue samples.…”
