Abstract:A convergent modular total synthesis is described which affords bisamphiphilic bifunctional transmembrane building blocks useful for artificial signal transduction across membranes. The concept relies on direct Glaser-Hay coupling of lithocholic or cholenic acid propargyl esters, carrying recognition or signaling units on their opposite hydroxy functionalities. For catechol recognition, a 2-(aminomethyl)phenylboronic acid was introduced, while the ammonium alcohol was targeted by a bisphosphonate dianion. Sign… Show more
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
