Bifidobacterium Treated by Electrostatic Spray Drying Relieved Constipation by Changing the Relative Abundance of Bacteria Associated With Gastrointestinal Regulatory Peptides

Abstract: In this study, three different microencapsulation methods were used to embed Bifidobacterium to explore the alleviating effects of embedding methods on constipated mice. By measuring the defecation-related parameters, it was found that the Bifidobacteria treated by electrostatic spray drying had the best ability to relieved constipation. Furthermore, by detecting constipation-related gastrointestinal regulatory peptides, inflammatory factors, intestinal microbiota, and SCFAs, it was discovered that Bifidobacte… Show more

“…The protective role of the gut microbiota in SS operates through two main mechanisms (Figure 1). Firstly, microbiota-produced metabolites like SCFAs exert anti-inflammatory properties, alleviating ocular inflammation (165)(166)(167). Secondly, the gut microbiota plays a critical role in regulating the development, differentiation and activation of ocular immune cells, effectively modulating the balance between pro-inflammatory Th17 cells and anti-inflammatory Treg cells (109,165,168).…”
