Bibliometric analysis of human monkeypox research from 1975 to 2022 and novel prevention and control strategies

Abstract: BackgroundSince human monkeypox was reported, many related literatures have been published. This study aimed to evaluate the research hotspots and future development trends of human monkeypox by a bibliometric analysis, to analyze the preventive and control measures of various countries in response to human monkeypox outbreaks.MethodsThe Web of Science Core Collection database was searched for all monkeypox related literature published from 1975 to 2022, and the search strategy was “TS = monkeypox.” Bibliometr… Show more

“…Te authors found widespread MPXV DNA contamination of the environment occupied by the infected and symptomatic individuals. Lin et al [24] demonstrated that to control the spread of monkeypox disease in various regions or states, it is important to implement preventive and control measures for the isolation of patients and the appropriate disposal of pollutants. Tis study highlights the signifcance of pollutants which may spread diseases.…”

“…Only a small number of bibliometric and visualization studies have examined the monkeypox emerging outbreak, as evidenced by references [23][24][25]. While these studies analyzed the global scientific output at an early stage following the first reported cases of monkeypox, the vast and rapidly increasing amount of literature on this topic necessitates an updated and comprehensive bibliometric analysis to gain a better understanding of the scientific discourse surrounding monkeypox.…”

“…In this study, all article data on C. auris was retrieved from the Web of Science (WoS) Core Collection. As the largest comprehensive academic information resource, Web of Science has been utilized as a great tool prior bibliometric studies ( Waqas et al, 2020 ; Ahmad et al, 2021 ; Saheb et al, 2021 ; Lin et al, 2022 ), we chose to use WOS as the data source in this study. The WoS Core Collection database is updated continuously, and it assesses all publications dynamically and rigorously; therefore, it was used for the bibliometric analysis.…”
