Hamstring injuries are one of the most common lower limb injuries found in sport and this study illustrates the utility of bibliometric analysis in examining a topic from a strength and conditioning coach perspective. This study identifies key areas of scholarship relating to the rehabilitation of hamstring injury among athletes and compares this with the total corpus of literature on the topic. A range of bibliometric measures are used that entail multi-dimensional scaling to identify clusters of related themes, authors, countries, and journals central to the evolution of the evidential-base. A corpus of 2439 articles on hamstring rehabilitation were retrieved and of these 815 papers relating to hamstring rehabilitation and athletes. Indexed research on the topic commenced in the early 1980s and has expanded at an exponential rate since then. Key authors (Dr J.I. Tol and Dr D.A. OPAR) and prolific countries (USA, Australia, and UK) have been identified. Examination of journal sources reveals that scholarship on this topic conforms to Bradford’s law of scattering and a total of 7 journals forms the core of published work in this space - British Journal of Sports Medicine; American Journal of Sports Medicine; Scandinavian Journal of Medicine and Science in Sport; Sports Medicine; Journal of Orthopaedic and Sports Physical Therapy; and Medicine and Science in Sports and Exercise. This study demonstrates the utility of bibliometric analysis in identifying areas of significant importance to strength and conditioning coaches, documents prolific authors, and highlights countries that dominate knowledge development. Neophyte practitioners can use these findings to seek out collaborative partners, pursue under-researched areas of inquiry and target their work for publication at relevant journals adding to the evidential-base.

Technology has been gradually introduced into our society, and the field of education is no exception due to technology’s ability to improve the teaching–learning process. Furthermore, within the area of physical education (PE), its importance has been highlighted by the existence of specific apps for physical activity that can be used inside and outside the classroom to assess physical condition, as well as through the potential that virtual and augmented reality can have in such assessment. Therefore, the main objectives for this study were (1) to perform a bibliometric analysis of the articles published in the Web of Science (WoS) on technology in PE and (2) to analyze the articles published on augmented or virtual reality in PE found through this search. The results show that although studies on technology in PE (461 articles) have begun to consolidate over the last five years (there was a turning point in 2015), with the USA being the most influential country in this area, specific research on the use of augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR) is still at a very early stage (22 articles with a small growth in 2017), with Spain being the most influential country; much more research is needed to achieve its consolidation.

A comunicação do governo com seus cidadãos e o avanço das ferramentas de informação e contribui para que o Estado busque continuamente uma maior interação e proximidade com a população através de seus portais governamentais na internet. Dessa forma, a comunicação pública está diretamente associada à governança pública, representada pelo Estado executor de políticas públicas. E a manifestação de imagens nas plataformas governamentais (sites) é objeto de estudo da semiótica, uma vez que esta é quem organiza a produção e compressão do sentido da linguagem não verbal. O objetivo deste trabalho é realizar um levantamento bibliométrico de publicações nacionais e internacionais concernentes ao uso de imagens na prática da comunicação da governança pública nos portais governamentais dos municípios brasileiros e de outros países. A área de conhecimento do estudo é a Administração Pública (Business, Management and Accounting). A abordagem metodológica se utiliza da teoria bibliométrica e os procedimentos de coleta de dados ocorrem junto às bases Eric - Educational Resources Information Centre, Google Scholar, Science Direct, Scopus e Web of Science. Quanto aos seus objetivos, a pesquisa é definida como exploratório-descritiva, e definida como aplicada, quanto à sua natureza. As análises conduzidas demonstram que, com o emprego da totalidade dos termos de pesquisa, quais são Public Communication, Public Governance, Semiotics e Image(s), nenhum artigo foi encontrado nas cinco bases utilizadas. Embora mereça destaque o volume significativo de artigos que retornaram a partir da busca com emprego de frações dos termos de pesquisa, trata-se de produções científicas alheias ao objeto de pesquisa. Os resultados sugerem que esse déficit científico apontado no presente trabalho pode ser revelador de uma menor percepção dos cidadãos em relação ao conteúdo dos portais governamentais dos municípios. Ademais, face a amplitude de significação do campo de estudo da semiótica, os resultados também sugerem que não seria pelo aumento do número de bases de dados ou robustez da amostra, que a produção científica seja mais evidente em levantamentos bibliográficos dessa natureza.
