Bi2O3 and g-C3N4 quantum dot modified anatase TiO2 heterojunction system for degradation of dyes under sunlight irradiation

Abstract: A facile and feasible method was successfully utilized to incorporate Bi 2 O 3 and g-C 3 N 4 quantum dots on TiO 2 surface to synthesize a novel composite g-C 3 N 4 /TiO 2 /Bi 2 O 3 . The photocatalytic activity of the composite g-C 3 N 4 /TiO 2 /Bi 2 O 3 for degradation of dyes under sunlight and UV light irradiation was evaluated. It possessed the higher photocatalytic performance than that of pristine TiO 2 or g-C 3 N 4 under the same conditions. Under sunlight irradiation, the reaction rate constants of th… Show more

“…Due to rapid population growth, the demand for water is increasing day by day (Shanmugaratnam, Rasalingam;Lv et al, 2020). Many scientists have focused and worked on efficient techniques for removing these non-biodegradable industrial pollutants from wastewater before they enter the environment (Peng et al, 2020). Several techniques such as adsorption, chlorination, filtration, and air stripping, coagulation, and membrane processes are traditional methods of treating water that are costly, time-consuming, and sometimes hazardous (Ranson et al, 2015;von Gunten, 2018;Bethi et al, 2016).…”

“…Engineering semiconductive heterojunctions can extend light absorption range, promote catalytic ability and bolster chemical stability. 30,31 In this regard, the cadmium sulde (CdS) is a good heterojunctional part due to its solar radiance acceptance, 32 redox potential and high efficiency separation of photoinduced electron-hole pairs. 33 Despites these merits, the CdS suffers from easy photocorrosion due to the positively charged holes can oxidize S 2À ions to S 0 phase.…”
