“…These dimeric units form layers in the ab plane through the edge sharing of O4 and O6 of the CSO 3 – group. This layer is structurally related to the layers observed in [Bi 2 O 2 (OH)(NO 3 )] . The organic moiety connects the layers to form a dense three-dimensional CP (Figure ).…”

“…Recently, two new Sillén-structure-related photocatalysts, Bi 2 O 2 [BO 2 (OH)] and Bi 2 O 2 (OH)(NO 3 ), have been reported by our group. Interestingly, they not only contain layered structures that are constructed by [Bi 2 O 2 ] 2+ /[Bi 2 O 2 (OH)] + layers and alternately interleaved BO 2 (OH) 2– /NO 3 – along the z -axis, but also crystallize in NCS polar crystal structures with monoclinic space group Cm and orthorhombic space group Cmc 2 1 . The absence of a symmetric center in the local structure could induce a large spontaneous macroscopic polarization to promote the separation of photogenerated electron–hole pairs. , Particularly, Bi 2 O 2 (OH)(NO 3 ) (denoted as BON) was demonstrated to possess superior UV photocatalytic activity, exceeding P25 and some other benchmark photocatalysts, with the generation of • O 2 – and • OH as reactive species. Currently, investigations on BON are very absent, and there are only two other papers reported on BON.…”

“…Their corresponding XRD patterns and SEM images are displayed in Figure b,c–f, respectively. In brief, the addition of Bi(NO 3 ) 3 ·5H 2 O to a basic aqueous medium leads to its hydrolysis, and the XRD pattern collected on the step-I intermediate shows the formation of BiONO 3 -type phases. , Upon the subsequent addition of Pb(NO 3 ) 2 (step-II) under constant ultrasonication, the former phase has vanished and a new phase, PbBiO 2 NO 3 , is formed. Its crystal structure can be viewed as [PbBiO 2 ] + layers intergrown with single NO 3 – layers along the c -axis (Figure a) .…”
