Beyond the classical Stefan problem

Abstract: In this thesis we develop and analyse mathematical models describing phase change phenomena linked with novel technological applications. The models are based on modifications to standard phase change theory. The mathematical tools used to analyse such models include asymptotic analysis, similarity solutions, the Heat Balance Integral Method and standard numerical techniques such as finite differences.
