“…Most of the rural residents surveyed declare that they have knowledge of renewable energy sources, which is quite promising indication for the further energy transition (Zabaniotou, 2018;Chodkowska-Miszczuk et al, 2019). The responses on the question of identifying the diverse types of renewable energy technologies centre on the well-known water-sun-wind triad (Krupnik et al, 2022). Nonetheless, this good, or self-perceived satisfactory, level of knowledge of the local public primarily means that RESs are positioned within the general group of ecological and pro-environmental measures contemporarily promoted and resulting from the implementation of current climate policies and commitments (Furmankiewicz et al, 2021).…”

“…It is worth considering at this point whether building public awareness as a key driver of the social change that is the energy transition (Krupnik et al, 2022) by providing direct experience of the effects of small-scale RES systems might be a proxy for larger-scale change. If the involvement of one renewable source in prosumer energy brings such benefits in terms of public acceptance and perception of this source on a larger scale, perhaps this is the right way to familiarise people with other types of renewable energy technologies?…”

“…Societies are not only affected by the transition, but can also shape it by driving it forward -or in contrast, a lack of awareness and limited social acceptability can substantially delay the necessary changes. Researchers have outlined diverse directions for SSH research, including research on deep transformations, influence of cultural and geographic diversity, energy governance and value-based goals instead of instrumental acceptance (Krupnik et al, 2022). These and other directions and themes require "open spaces" for critical discussion on strategies and pathways of energy transitions.…”

“…In the existing literature, much attention is paid to the prospects of the digital development of the energy sector. Automation covers more and more economic processes and systems of energy companies (Afshari et al, 2022' Buchmayr et al, 2022Krupnik et al, 2022). The research works (Chadwick et al, 2022;Guglielmi et al, 2022;Shidong et al, 2022) note that the transition to digital energetics based on the technologies of Industry 4.0 increases the risks for workers in this industry (Al-Haidan et al, 2022;Baur et al, 2022;Büscher, 2022).…”
