The Internet of Vehicles (IoV) and the Internet of Flying Vehicles (IoFV) are integral components of intelligent transportation systems with the potential to revolutionize the way we move people and goods. Although both the IoV and IoFV share a common goal of improving transportation efficiency, safety, and sustainability, they possess distinct characteristics and face unique challenges. To date, the existing literature has predominantly focused on specific aspects of either the IoV or IoFV, but a comprehensive review comparing and contrasting the two domains is still lacking. This review paper aims to address this gap by providing an in-depth analysis of the key differences between the IoV and IoFV systems. The review will examine the technological components, network infrastructure, communication protocols, data management, objectives, applications, challenges, and future trends associated with both domains. Additionally, this paper will explore the potential impact of technologies such as artificial intelligence, machine learning, and blockchain. Ultimately, the paper aims to contribute to a deeper understanding of the implications and potential of these technologies, both in the context of transportation systems and beyond.

Vehicle-to-Everything (V2X) communication, essential for enhancing road safety, driving efficiency, and traffic management, must be robust against cybersecurity threats for successful deployment and acceptance. This survey comprehensively explores V2X security challenges, focusing on prevalent cybersecurity threats such as jamming, spoofing, Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS), and eavesdropping attacks. These threats were selected due to their prevalence and ability to compromise the integrity and reliability of V2X systems. Jamming can disrupt communications, spoofing can lead to data and identity manipulation, DDoS attacks can saturate system resources, and eavesdropping can compromise user privacy and information confidentiality. Addressing these major threats ensures that V2X systems are robust and secure for successful deployment and widespread acceptance. An extensive review uncovered a global landscape of V2X cybersecurity research. We highlight contributions from China in scientific publications and the United States in patent innovations, with notable advancements from leading corporations such as Qualcomm, LG, Huawei, Intel, Apple, and Samsung. This work educates and informs on the current state of V2X cybersecurity and identifies emerging trends and future research directions based on a year-byyear analysis of the literature and patents. The findings underscore the evolving cybersecurity landscape in V2X systems and the importance of continued innovation and research in this critical field. The survey navigates the complexities of securing V2X communications, emphasizing the necessity for advanced security protocols and technologies, and highlights innovative approaches within the global scientific and patent research context. The rapid advancement of fifth-generation (5G)-and-beyond networks coupled with unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) has opened up exciting possibilities for diverse applications and cutting-edge technologies, revolutionizing the way connections, communications, and innovations unfold in the digital age. This paper presents a comprehensive survey of the deployment scenarios, applications, emerging technologies, regulatory aspects, research trends, and challenges associated with the use of UAVs in 5G-and-beyond networks. It begins with a succinct background and motivation, followed by a systematic UAV classification and a review of relevant works. The survey covers UAV deployment scenarios, including single and multiple UAV configurations. The categorization of UAV applications in 5G is presented, along with investigations into emerging technologies for enhancing UAV communications. Regulatory considerations encompassing flight guidelines, spectrum allocation, privacy, and safety are discussed. Moreover, light is shed on the latest research trends and open challenges in the field, with promising directions for future investigations identified, concluding with a summary of key findings and contributions. This survey serves as a valuable resource for researchers, practitioners, and policymakers in the UAV and communication domains.
