Beyond EM Algorithm on Over-specified Two-Component Location-Scale Gaussian Mixtures

Abstract: The Expectation-Maximization (EM) algorithm has been predominantly used to approximate the maximum likelihood estimation of the location-scale Gaussian mixtures.
