Beyond 5G: Big Data Processing for Better Spectrum Utilization

Abstract: This article emphasizes the great potential of big data processing for advanced user-and situation-oriented, so context-aware resource utilization in future wireless networks. In particular, we consider the application of dedicated, detailed and rich-in-content maps and records called Radio Service Maps, (RSM) for unlocking the spectrum opportunities in 6G networks. Due to the characteristics of 5G, in the future, there will be a need for high convergence of various types of wireless networks, such as cellular… Show more

“…On the system level, for better efficiency and safety of the DSM, the physical layer CR based on spectrum sensing shall be further completed by an awareness of cyberphysical level context information, in order to obtain a deeper understanding in the communication environment, including terrain scenario, traffic pattern, local regulation, etc. This leads to challenges in various aspects of context-awareness, ranging from data provisioning to data ownership [95].…”

“…Cognitive radio (CR) communications [4] have emerged as a potential solution to trade-off between spectrum availability and its demanding growth [5], [6]. CR is defined as "an intelligent wireless communication system that is aware of its environment and uses the methodology of understanding-by-building to learn from the environment" [7].…”

“…From ( 6) it is clear that the architecture follows a relationship such that a layer receives the previous layer's output, reduce the error and make it closer to the ground truth. As mentioned, we utilise (6), implement the idea and unfold it to formulate the design of a single layer of the proposed PU-DetNet. In case of a generic neural network, the output of any given layer is dependent on just the previous layer's output (or just the input data, in case of the first hidden layer).…”
