Beyin ölümü kriterlerinin tarihsel gelişimi ve kadavradan organ nakline etkisi

Abstract: Ölüm, yaşamın temel gerçekleri arasındadır. İnsanlar ölümü ve ölüm sürecini başlangıçtan beri merak etmiş, anlamaya ve tanımlamaya çalışmıştır. Yüzyıllar boyunca, ölümü anlama ve tanımlama sürecine çoğunlukla inançlar eşlik etmiştir. Son yüzyıllarda ise hekimler, ölüm tanısını koyacak insan konumuna gelmiştir. Hekimler, tıbbi gelişmelere paralel olarak, ölüm tanımında sayısız değişiklik yapmak zorunda kalmışlardır. “…Although there was a statement indicating that "If the organ donation permit cannot be obtained after the brain death is declared to the relative of the patient, the medical support applied to the patient will be discontinued" in the 1993 criteria, this approach was amended in the Regulation on Organ and Tissue Transplantation dated June 1, 2000, and was rephrased as "the medical support can be discontinued if the relatives of the patient permit". In the Regulation on Organ and Tissue Transplantation, dated February 1, 2012, the rules for the diagnosis of brain death have been re-published, but there was no statement on the decision to discontinue medical support in non-donor cases made by relatives of the patient and/or by the health team (1). This has led to hesitations in discontinuing medical support by making the issue of authority questionable.…”
