“…The original factor with the most problematic items was authority/respect (3 of 6 items were problematic), followed by the harm/care, fairness/reciprocity, and in‐group loyalty factors (2 of 6 items per factor were problematic), and the purity/sanctity factor (1 of 6 items was problematic). Given the central significance of authority and respect in military culture, attributable to its hierarchical structure (Caforio & Nuciari, 2006; Hoffman, 2020; Kirkland, 2003; Weiss & Coll, 2011), it is not surprising that the most items were removed from the original authority/respect factor. Similarly, notions of fairness, reciprocity, in‐group loyalty, purity, and sanctity may have different meanings, significance, and utility in military culture, as opposed to civilian cultures.…”
