‘BETWEEN BELIEF AND UNBELIEF LIES THE PERFORMANCE OFSALĀT’: MEANING AND EFFICACY OF A MUSLIM RITUAL

Abstract: Drawing on fieldwork in Istanbul,Turkey, the article analyses the role of the Muslim fivetimes-daily prayer (sal t), within the Islamic tradition.
