Best Relay Selection Schemes for NOMA Based Cognitive Relay Networks in Underlay Spectrum Sharing

Abstract: Cognitive Radio and the emerging Non-Orthogonal Multiple Access (NOMA) techniques hold the potential to fulfill the increasing demands of radio spectrum by 5G-and-B5G wireless systems. It is a usual practice in underlay cognitive radio networks to take assistance from intermediate relays to reach the remote destination. Putting together, NOMA based Cognitive Relay Networks (NCRNs) have recently gained tremendous research attention to improve the spectrum utilization efficiency. This article studies the applica… Show more

“…Another cooperative CR based SISO NOMA is presented in [152], where a BS serves a near-and a far-user. Due to absence of direct link between the BS and the far-user, the communication is established with the help of a single selected HD-AF relay among the R available ones.…”

“…The outage performance of SUs in underlay CNOMA using amplify-and-forward (AF) [16] and decode-and-forward (DF) [17] relaying protocols have been analyzed. Various relay selection schemes have been explored in [18] for an underlay CNOMA system operating with multiple DF relays. A cooperative underlay CNOMA-based coordinated direct and relay transmission has been investigated in [19].…”

“…However, in the case of DF relaying, if the primary signal x p could not be decoded at node S after the first IT phase, node S can utilize all its harvested power in transmitting its own information. Hence, the equivalent SNR expression at node R can be given by (18).…”
