BESII detector simulation

Abstract: A Monte Carlo program based on Geant3 has been developed for BESII detector simulation. The organization of the program is outlined, and the digitization procedure for simulating the response of various sub-detectors is described. Comparisons with data show that the performance of the program is generally satisfactory.

“…Final state radiation [31] decreases the detection efficiency not more than 0.5%. Detailed analysis based on Monte Carlo simulation for the BES-II detector [32] gives the detection efficiencies for each process at √ s = 3.773 and 3.650 GeV, which are summarized in the fifth columns of Tabs. I and II, where the detection efficiencies do not include the branching fractions for K 0 S → π + π − and π 0 → γγ, B(K 0 S → π + π − ) and B(π 0 → γγ).…”

“…The detection efficiency ǫ for each final state is estimated by Monte Carlo simulation for the BESII detector [22]. The Monte Carlo events are generated by using a phase space generator including initial state radiation and photon vacuum polarization corrections [23] with 1/s cross section energy dependence.…”

“…More details on this comparison can be found in Ref. [9]. In this analysis, the detection efficiency and mass resolution for each decay mode are obtained from a MC simulation, which takes into account the angular distributions appropriate for the different final states [10].…”
