“…This results support our hypothesis that BBR is able to mitigate Hg‐induced reproductive toxicity. Our results were in agreement with a previous study (Hassani‐Bafrani et al, 2019). It is reported that BBR administration restored the level of testosterone in response to varicocele‐induced testicular damage.…”

“…These findings suggest that antioxidant agents may inhibit LPO‐induced oxidative insult and the subsequent exacerbation of impairments associated with HgCl 2 ‐mediated testicular damage (Yin et al, 2019). BBR was shown to enhance the antioxidant response through scavenging ROS, preventing of LPO, and increasing gene and protein expression in the antioxidant defense system in different experimental models (Hassani‐Bafrani et al, 2019; Kazaz et al, 2019; Saleh et al, 2018). This results support our hypothesis that BBR is able to restrain Hg‐induced toxicity via its antioxidant activity.…”

“…71 In experimental varicocele, BBR as an antioxidant agent, promoted testicular antioxidant potential, promoted spermatogenesis, and upregulated the sperm quality. 72 A study showed that BBR protected PC-12 cells from oxidative injury by inhibiting ROS via PI3K/AKT/ mTOR signaling pathways. 73 In the pentylenetetrazoleinduced kindling model of epilepsy in rats, BBR exerted antioxidant properties and anti-epileptogenic effects by upregulating superoxide dismutase levels.…”
