“…The spraying of pesticides containing inorganic arsenic compounds, predominantly of very low solubility, has also been associated with lung cancer among vintners in Germany and France (35,36). Unfortunately these reports are only case studies with some macroepidemiological evidence and cannot be used for dose-response discussions.…”

“…It has been associated with the occurrence of three types of skin cancer -Bowen's disease, basal cell carcinoma, and 'squamous cell carcinoma (28). Arsenic-induced skin cancers have been observed among persons exposed occupationally to arsenic in the chemical (32) and wine-making (41) industries, as well as among persons exposed through the consumption of contaminated drinking water (44) or through the use of arsenical medications (28). The prevalence of arsenic-induced skin cancer appears to be related to total arsenic dose (29,44).…”

“…The study of the population living near a pesticide manufacturing plant revealed that it was also exposed to the risk of lung cancer (Matanoski et al, 1981). Case reports of arsenical pesticide applicators have demonstrated an association between arsenic exposure and lung cancer (Roth, 1958). A cross-sectional study of 40,000 Taiwanese exposed to arsenic in drinking water found significant excess of skin cancer prevalence by comparison to 7500 residents of Taiwan and Matsu who consumed relatively arsenic-free water (Tseng et al, 1968).…”
