BER-based power allocation for Amplify-and-Forward and Decode-and-Forward relaying systems

Abstract: Abstract-In this paper, power allocation schemes are proposed for the total transmit power of the source and the relay in a triplet relaying system based on Bit Error Rate (BER) analysis. Considering Amplify-and-Forward (AF), Decode-and-Forward (DF) for relaying systems and direct transmission (DT) without relay, we perform a fair comparison with respect to their power consumption in order to achieve the same target BER at the destination. For coded systems, the relationship between the input and the output BE… Show more

“…In [4], the EE for the DF-TWRT (two-way relay transmission) under relay power constraint is analyzed. Through the power allocation scheme, the total transmit power subject to a target BER is minimized at the destination for both AF and DF relaying systems [5]. Previous works are more concerned about the EE performance of one-way or two-way relay under AF/DF protocols.…”

“…Among different cooperative strategies, the amplify-and-forward and the decode-and-forward cooperative techniques are often employed in cooperative networks. “…In cooperative communication, an intermediate node between source-destination pair acts as a relay to forward the received message [4]. Amplify-and-Forward (Non-Regenerative Relaying) and Decode-and-Forward (Regenerative Relaying) are two classic and most commonly employed relaying protocols [5]. Thus, inspired by CR and cooperative communication techniques, Relay assisted Cognitive Radio Network (RCRN) has emerged as one of the candidate solutions to face the highlighted challenges of the underlay networks [6].…”
