Abstract: Sigma-1 receptor (S1R) is a calcium-sensitive, ligand-operated receptor chaperone present on the endoplasmic reticulum (ER) membrane. S1R plays an important role in ER-mitochondrial inter-organelle calcium signaling and cell survival.
