Benzene and its metabolite decreases cell proliferation via LncRNA-OBFC2A-mediated anti-proliferation effect involving NOTCH1 and KLF15

Abstract: LncRNA has been considered to play a crucial role in the progression of several diseases by affecting cell proliferation. However, its role in benzene toxicity remains unclear. Our study showed that the expression of lncRNA-OBFC2A increased accompanied with the change of cell proliferation related-genes in benzene-exposed workers. In vitro experiments, 1,4-Benzoquinone dose-dependently inhibited cell proliferation and simultaneously caused the decrease of NOTCH1 expression and the increase of KLF15 in AHH-1 ce… Show more

“…EMT is a process primarily characterized by E‐cadherin loss and cell invasion and is regarded as a mechanism for cancer dissemination . Accumulating reports have demonstrated that lncRNAs are capable of affecting biological activities of cancer and participate in development of multiple diseases, via regulation of cell proliferation . In addition, lncRNAs are identified as emerging regulators in metastatic cascade, among which lncRNA H19 has been found to be able to regulate EMT, thereby affecting tumour cell metastasis .…”

“…A similar result was reported in hepatocellular carcinoma cells [38]. That 1,4-BQ inhibits cell proliferation has been confirmed in several studies [39,40]. In our study, we used MTT to investigate the cell viability and EdU to test the cell proliferation change after 1,4-BQ exposure in both PTP4A3-suppressed cells and control cells.…”

“…In recent years, with the development of high-throughput sequencing technology, more and more lncRNAs have been annotated. Increasing evidence has confirmed that lncRNAs are widely involved in the regulation of gene expression [34], cell proliferation [35], cell differentiation [36], cell apoptosis [37], and cancer development [38].…”
