“…Similar regularities can be seen in the results of B. Pilica et al [68], which indicates that the presence of a small amount of about 1% by weight of silica in the polymer is characterized by good and uniform dispersion. However, the confirmation of appropriate dispersion for composites filled with bentonite in an amount of up to 3% by weight was found elsewhere [69]. The observations confirm well-selected conditions for the homogenization of the ingredients.…”

“…Because of its antifouling ability, hydrophilicity, and high stability, TiO 2 nanomaterial is commonly active in membrane manufacturing ( Alzahrani and Mohammad, 2014 ; Zhao et al, 2015 ). Also, Clays have attracted special attention among the numerous inorganic fillers because of their compatible distribution in the polymer matrix, high surface area, economic, non-toxicity, and natural accessibility ( Alekseeva et al, 2019a ; Alekseeva et al, 2019b ). In our work cellulose acetate, ultrafiltration membrane was prepared and modified with nanoTiO 2 and nano-clay, to enhance protein removal from drug and food industry wastewater.…”

“…Nowadays, the modification of bentonite by natural or synthetic polymers has gained critical research attention, such as polyethylene glycol, polystyrene, polysiloxane, carboxymethyl cellulose, chitin, and chitosan. The preparation methods of polymer/bentonite composites can be classified into three categories: (i) intercalation polymerization, (ii) polymer intercalation by the melt method, and (iii) polymer intercalation by the solution method . A competitive advantage of the solution method is that it can better control the homogeneity of the constituents compared to the first two methods, which is helpful to comprehend the intercalation process and composites’ morphology.…”
