“…Few cases have reported multiple GCT within the same patient at different anatomic sites and fewer have reported a familial component. 1,38,42,51,53,56,58 A pathological finding strongly associated with GCT, which can lead to either a delay in diagnosis or misdiagnosis is pseudoepitheliomatous hyperplasia (PEH). This is a reactive, finger-like projection of squamous the actual number of lesions with PEH may indeed by higher in those studies where it was not discussed.…”

“…Malignant granular cell tumors are exceptionally rare, especially within the larynx, with this review identifying six cases (3%). 1,10,21,76 The diagnosis of a malignant GCT is challenging and two schemas have been proposed to aid in diagnosis, the Fanburg-Smith and the Nasser criteria. 94,95 The Fanburg-Smith criteria examined 73 cases of previously documented malignant GCT and based on six criteria: necrosis, spindling of the tumor cells, vesicular nuclei with large nucleoli, increased mitotic rate, a high nuclear: cytoplasmic ratio, and pleomorphism, only 46 were considered malignant, as they met at least four out six criteria whereas 17 were reclassified as atypical and six as benign.…”

“…Complete surgical resection is the recommended standard treatment for granular cell tumors. It allows both an accurate diagnosis by complete histological examination of the tumor 14 and surgical resection with clear margins.…”

“…Most of the clinical manifestations are painless masses in subcutaneous or deep soft tissue. Most of the cases occurred in the extremities, torso, head, neck, and breast [10][11][12][13][14][15][16]. To date, few cases of bladder malignant GCT have been reported [7,17].…”
