The fundamentals of solving ecological and environmental problems lie in the problems of education, awareness and quality. Strengthening environmental education for college students can enhance their environmental awareness and motivate them to protect the environment. This study outperforms GA-SVR, PSO-SVR, DE-SVR and SVR in assessing the quality of ecological environment and English teaching by establishing SSA-SVR model. The study shows that the SSA-SVR model has higher assessment precision and accuracy in assessing the quality of university English language teaching. The study provides new methods and tools for university English education and offers valuable insights and guidance for exploring the intersection of ecological conservation and English education. In addition, the study offers suggestions for improvement that can help us gain a more comprehensive and in-depth understanding of the actual effects of university students' participation in English teaching practices and provide more convincing conclusions and recommendations for practice.

The research showed that online media was expected to provide a more straightforward understanding to students in learning Mandarin, one of which was FlipGrid online learning media. Learning Mandarin was quite challenging if it was only done by using textbooks. This could be shown by the lack of students’ memory of the vocabulary they had just learned. The data were analyzed with a quantitative approach involving 110 students aged 13 to 14. The data was collected of students’ vocabulary study after two months of using three test questions: filling in the blanks, guessing the meaning, and completing sentences. Thus, it can be concluded that understanding the vocabulary learned on the FlipGrid platform media can also be an additional vocabulary for students in developing speaking skills. The results reveal that the teacher’s participation in monitoring the completion of students’ assignments also plays a vital role in developing students’ speaking skills, which means that the frequency of using FlipGrid directly impacts students’ memory skills. However, when faced with critical thinking test questions, students themselves must be able to think out of the box and not only based on what they have learned from FlipGrid online. That means the research implies a need for a more innovative instructional design for language learning to improve better students’ memorization to learn Mandarin.

Nowadays students mostly used a pinyin input method to study Chinese, which had adverse effects on their Chinese character writing skills. The research method using qualitative method, where the researcher gave two types of tasks to 58 students, some of whom used the pinyin input method and some who did not. According to the findings, there are 67.25% of the students (38 out of 58) making errors when writing by hand. These errors included 47.44% of errors related to similarities between Chinese characters, which could be categorized into three types: word formation similarities (5%), character component similarities (15.25%), and single letter similarities (27.11%). Additionally, 25% of the errors were sound equation errors, such as “�” as “_f” (“shì”). Furthermore, 27% of the errors were related to the formation of new Chinese characters. When the students used the pinyin input method, the percentage of errors decreased significantly to 25.86%, most of the errors made using this method were due to word selection errors (60%) and vowel errors (40%). The research suggests that using the pinyin input method may have a negative impact on students’ motivation to write Chinese characters, which, in turn, can affect their handwriting skills.
