“…We used a systematic review methodology to identify, examine and evaluate all relevant data on a fascinating topic step-by-step to obtain an objective judgment. Several approaches exist for conducting a systematic review (Paul et al, 2021;Paul and Criado, 2020), such as theory-based reviews (Gilal et al, 2019), structured reviews (Mishra et al, 2021;Paul and Singh, 2017), framework-based reviews (Paul and Mas, 2020), theory development reviews (Paul and Mas, 2020), bibliometric analyses (Fahimnia et al, 2015;Maryniak and Bulhakova, 2020) and meta-analyses (Rana and Paul, 2020). For this study, we adopted the structured review approach, which aligns with our aim of developing a comprehensive understanding of the current state of activity sampling studies, identifying gaps in the literature and suggesting future research directions.…”

“…Bibliometric analysis is a widely adopted research method to evaluate the breadth and depth of research evidence, which provides critical insights into both national and international contributions and identifies research gaps in particular fields of study [38][39][40][41]. For instance, bibliometric analyses have been applied across diverse disciplines, including education [42], material science [43], chemistry [44], economics [45], medicine [46], and engineering [47].…”

“…In the recently published scientific work concerning supply chain digitalization, only a few articles examined the adoption of I4.0 technologies their attributes, benefits and drawbacks that can result from their application (Maryniak and Bulhakova, 2020;Abdirad and Krishnan, 2020;Kohl et al, 2021). Lagorio et al (2020) explored the trend toward new technologies in logistics and identified the main research trends and gaps.…”
