Benefits of the National Shipbuilding Research Program to the Navy and the Industrial Base: Part 1—Maritime Perspective

Abstract: This paper traces the development of the National Shipbuilding Research Program (NSRP) from its beginning in the early 1970's to the present time. The goals sought, the approach used, and the organization established to achieve the goals are described. An overview of technical accomplishments is followed by a discussion of two nontechnical areas, namely, organizational support and market development, and the role of the NSRP in these areas.
