Abstract. Nowadays all links of the entire supply chain need to integrate their different infrastructures and they have better control of them to drive better profits. This integration should offer the ability for companies in order to have an overall and transparent insight to its supply chain activities. An intelligent supply chain which is mainly supported by Smart Items technology can satisfy the need of those integration. By means of Smart Items, a company can benefit some advantages. Those are cost reduction and value creation. However, currently there is no comprehensive Smart Item infrastructure exists yet so it is difficult to calculate the true benefit information. This paper attempts to recommend a model for estimating the benefits of implementing Smart Items in a company which has an integrated supply chain process. The integrated supply chain means that three echelons (supplier, shipper and retailer) of supply chain are belonged to a company. The proposed model was used to determine the shrinkage value and RFID tag price which can give the maximum benefit of Smart Items implementation. A numerical example is also provided to give a better comprehension on model calculation.

Abstract-The large number of requirements and opportunities for automatic identification in manufacturing domains such as automotive and electronics has accelerated the demand for item-level tracking using radio-frequency identification technology. End-users are interested in implementing automatic identification systems, which are capable of ensuring full component process history, traceability and tracking preventing costly downtime to rectify processing defects and product recalls. The research outlined in this paper investigates the feasibility of implementing an RFID system for the manufacturing and assembly of crankshafts. The proposed solution involves the attachment of bolts with embedded RFID functionality by fitting a reader antenna reader to an overhead gantry that spans the production line and reads and writes production data to the tags. The manufacturing, assembly and service data captured through RFID tags and stored on a local server, could further be integrated with higher-level business applications facilitating seamless integration within the factory.

Radio Frequency Identification (RFID)-based parking management systems provide facilities to control parking lot systems within easy access and secure inspection. Chen and Chong have presented a scheme to prevent car thefts for parking lot management systems, which is based on EPC C1-G2 RFID standard. They claimed that their protocol is resistant against well-known RFID attacks. In this paper, we prove that Chen and Chong's scheme is not resistant against secret disclosure and impersonation attacks. Therefore, in Chen and Chong parking lot system, a car may be stolen without having a valid tag. In this paper, we also show that the proposed impersonation attack works for any length of cyclic redundancy check and the secret disclosure attack costs at most 2 16 evaluations of the used pseudo random number generator. The success probability of both attacks is 1 while their complexity is only 2 runs of the protocol. Finally, we present an improved protocol and formally and informally prove that the improved protocol provides the desired level of security and privacy.
