Beneficial use of hyperbranched polymer in cross‐linked anion exchange membranes for fuel cells

Abstract: Summary A series of cross‐linked blend membranes based on a linear poly(2,6‐dimethyl phenylene oxide) (PPO) and a hyperbranched poly(4‐vinylbenzyl chloride) (HVBC) are prepared via a simple solution casting procedure, followed by a cross‐linking treatment. The experiment indicates that the “HVBC enhancing PPO” membranes can have a looser cross‐linked “linear‐hyperbranched” blend structure, which is expected to improve the water absorption and dimensional stability.
