“…A four level-coding system, modified according to Kelley et al [26, 27], was used to outline where and to which extend expected competencies are taught in the medical didactic qualification programme for medical tutors. It is based on the CanMEDS Physician Competency Framework for defining seven professional roles of the physician.…”

“…[12][13][14] According to our literature search and knowledge from a curricular mapping project, most aspects of risk communication are being taught in medical school-however, they are taught separately. 15 Some curricula on the topics have been published, [16][17][18] but no integrated curriculum encompassing all aspects important for risk communication exists in the literature. We thus hypothesize that an integration of the relevant topics-basic statistics, bias detection, professional management of COI, and communication skills-is necessary to improve physicians' risk communication competence by improving knowledge organization, facilitating knowledge transfer into practice, and emphasizing the importance of basic statistics and professionalism for the treatment quality of patients.…”

“…The benchmarking approach with a common mapping database and consented procedures [22] applied in this study, appears an appropriate strategy to support monitoring of CBME implementation [21]. Mapping data can be applied in that way at any time during curricular developmental processes.…”

“…However, further methods are required subsequently for comprehensive insight. Benchmarking approaches have shown to provide detailed curricular reference data: firstly, by linking mapping data to the given NKLM standards, secondly, by comparing own results with data from other programs to determine one's position in the field of others [21]. Multi-site reference data at learning objectives level promises to facilitate targeted local curriculum development as well as to support the review process of the framework regarding e.g.…”
