Performance and functionality increases in network environments have increased the need f o r readilyaccessible mass storage. UNIX@-based networks and mass-storage systems are providing the required connectivity and interoperability, but how VNIX-based mass-storage systems are being used is not well documented. This paper describes a study of the usage of the UNIX-based Network Storage Service at Sandia National Laboratories.
