Abstract:Integrons are powerful adaptive devices that can capture, stockpile, shuffle and express gene cassettes to sample combinatorial phenotypic diversity. Some integrons called sedentary chromosomal integrons (SCIs) can be massive structures containing hundreds of cassettes.
