RESUMO Objetivo Avaliar a efetividade das ações educativas em saúde auditiva desenvolvidas em uma lavanderia hospitalar. Método Pesquisa avaliativa de abordagem quantitativa realizada numa lavanderia hospitalar. A população do estudo foi constituída por 80 trabalhadores, de ambos os gêneros, subdivididos em Grupo Intervenção GI e Grupo Sem Intervenção GSI. Foram avaliadas as ações educativas sobre preservação auditiva realizadas na abordagem teórica da Metodologia Problematizadora e Participativa, num total de 5 oficinas. Para avaliar os resultados das oficinas, foi utilizado um instrumento com 36 questões sobre conhecimentos, atitudes e práticas em preservação auditiva no trabalho. A Versão “A” foi aplicada antes da intervenção e a Versão “B”, após um mês de seu término. Analisaram-se as respostas dos questionários A e B por grupos com e sem intervenção em relação ao gênero e escolaridade. Resultados Os resultados encontrados na fase pré-intervenção demonstraram que os dois grupos apresentaram problemas no conhecimento relacionado à saúde auditiva no trabalho. Após a intervenção educativa, houve aumento significativo do conhecimento em relação à saúde auditiva no trabalho do GI com 77,77% das questões que apresentaram diferenças significantes entre os grupos. Houve melhora na média de pontuação com 35 (97,22%) questões apresentando pontuação maior que 4 (considerada resposta adequada). O gênero feminino apresentou conhecimentos inferiores ao masculino, porém, após as oficinas, essas diferenças não foram observadas no GI. A escolaridade não foi um fator relevante neste estudo. Conclusão A proposta educativa pautada na metodologia problematizadora ampliou o conhecimento referente à saúde auditiva no trabalho entre os participantes.

Conflict of interest: non existentAs a result, it becomes essential to establish Health Programs, in the industrial context, which emphasizes the adoption of preventive measures for preservation of workers' hearing, avoiding NoiseInduced Hearing Loss (NIHL) 3,4 . The goal of a Hearing Prevention Program -HPP, in work, is to establish actions so the work environments become healthier, safer and more pleasant, and it has as primary goal to reduce, and even eliminate the NIHL [5][6][7] . Among the aspects that compound a Hearing Prevention Program in work are the actions to control the oto-aggressive agents, to monitor hearing and educational actions, the focus of this study, which the proposition aims the awareness of workers and employers about the consequences INTRODUTIONAlthough noise is present in a lot of occupational environments, its effects are difficult to notice because they are not immediate, but increase through time and may cause irreversible damages to hearing. At present, noise is one of the most potential risks to workers' health, either in industry facilities and other labor activities 1,2 . ABSTRACT Purpose: the effectiveness' analysis of workshops on hearing health as proposed educational actions in health workers exposed to noise. Methods: intervention study of 15 male worker exposed to noise in a food industry. Stages: (1) assessment of hearing profile, (2) application of the questionnaire" Beliefs and attitudes about hearing protection" (NIOSH, 1996) -version A; (3) formulate and conduct three workshops covering some aspects of participatory methodology, with the following themes: anatomy-physiology of hearing, effects of noise, prevention, diagnosis of had noise induced hearing loss, consequences of PAIR, noise and its control, use of ear protections. (4) questionnaire application -version B for workshops evaluation. They were compared with seizure or retention of knowledge through the differences in scores found in questionnaires version A and version B. Results: among investigated workers (15), the average working average working time was 31,5 years, all males showed that 40% had noise induced hearing loss bilaterally. After application of the workshops there was a statistically significant improvement in tree thematic areas, namely: a) Perception of susceptibility to developing a hearing loss, b) Perceived benefits of preventive action and c) Changes in behavioral intentions. Conclusion: the pedagogical design of the Participatory type contributed to the reflection of the workers about preserving your hearing and health in the noise. Abstract:This cross-sectional study investigated noise annoyance, awareness and practice among the workers in two steel factories in UAE. The study involving 468 steel workers randomly selected. Noise exposure was estimated using the integrated sound level meter. A structured interview questionnaire was used to assess the noise annoyance, awareness and practice of workers towards the noise. The results showed that about 89 % of the workers exposed to a daily Leq above the permissible level which is 85 dB (A) and 45 % of them had never used any hearing protection devices. About 58% of the workers experienced a moderate or high degree of noise annoyance. Only 4.1% and 1.9 % of the workers aware about the health effects of noise and the methods of prevention respectively and awareness was positively associated with noise exposure. Few workers (13.2%) used the hearing protection devices during the working time. Thus workers within both factories are at high risk of developing noise annoyance, and other related ailments due to excessive occupational exposure to noise, and non-use of hearing protection devices. There was an association between noise annoyance and noise level and any one of them could influence the workers to use the hearing protection devices. There is a need to have a hearing conservation program in both factories one of its main components is education to raise the awareness of workers about noise hazards and methods of prevention. Finally, the factor noise annoyance should be incorporated into all future studies on the use of hearing protection devices.
