Wenn man nach dem Vorgange von H. K o l b e unter Sulfonen den Ketonen entsprechende Verbindungen versteht, die statt des Carbonyls, CO, das Radical Sulfuryl, S O p , enthalten, so sind ungesattigte Sulfone, Sulfone mit Resten ungrsattigter I(ohlen\.vasserstoffe, bislang nicht beschriebcn worden I). I) Selbstverstiindlich darf man nacb alter Cfepflogenheit auch die cigcntlichen Snbstitnte der Snlfoiie, z. B. die Halogensubstitute, nocli zu den Sulfonen irn engeren Sinne rechnen; den Begriff auf andere Derivate auszudehncn , schcint mir unstatthaft zu sein. Ebensowenig wie man z. B. die KetonsLureu als eiyentliche Ketone bezeiclinen kann, darf man z. B. die SulfoncarbonsLuren, wenn sie sich auch als Carboxylsubstitnte Ton Sulfonen betracht,en lassen (die Phenylsulfoiic?ssiyslure, C,H,.SO,.CH,COOH, beispielsweise als das Carboxylsabstitut des Phenylniethylsulfons, C,;H,.SO,.CH,) zu den eigentlichen Sulfonen zlhlen. Wie die Ketonsauren nur Ketonverbindungen, Ketone im weiteren Sinne, so sind die Sulfoncarbonsguren auch nur Sulfonverbindungen , Sulfone im weiteren Sinne. %u dieser Darlegung giebt mir eine Fussnot,e Veranlassung, die sich in einer Abhandlung von E. E a u m a n n : ,,Ueber die Verseifbarkcit der Snlfone und BenzolsulfinsLureester" , in den Ber. d. deutsch. chem. Ges. 24, 2276 findet. In dieser Fussnote macht B a u m a n n darauf aufmerksam, dass in einer Abhandlung von W. A u t e n r i e t h (diese Annalen 259, 332) ,,aucli Abkommlinge anderer ungesgttigter Snlfone" beschrieben worden seien, nachdem er in dem Texte, worauf sich die Kote bezieht,, den von ihm beschriebenen ~-Dilthylsulfonbntterslureester als ein Sulfon bezeiclinet hat und fiigt, hinzu : ,,vergl. dagegen auch 0 t t 0 , Uer. d. dentsch. chem.
