Die Synthese eines tRNA&-Cistrons [1*51, also eines Stucks DNA, das einer t RNA; : , komplementar ist, ist beinahe vollendet. An der DNA als Matrize sollte sich rnit Hilfe der RNA-Polymerase die entsprechende RNA herstellen lassen. Diese vollsttindig unmodifizierte tRNA ist ein interessantes Ausgangsmaterial fur viele Untersuchungen, z.B. fur die Aufklarung der Biosynthese und der Funktion der seltenen Nucleotide. Durch Rontgenstrukturanalyse und andere Methoden diirfte das Problem der Raumstruktur der tRNAs in absehbarer Zeit gelost werden. Die Kenntnis der Raumstruktur wiederum wird die Untersuchung der Bindungs-und Erkennungsregionen der tRNAs erleichtern. Im Verstandnis der tRNA-Funktionen auhrhalb der Aminosaureiibertragung allerdings und der moglichen Rolle der tRNAs bei den Regulationsvorgbgen, stehen wir noch in den Anfangen.Die tRNAs sind die kleinsten makromolekularen Werkzeuge der Proteinbiosynthese. Von den anderen Nucleinsauren der Zelle unterscheiden sie sich erheblich. Durch die Besonderheiten ihrer Slruktur sind sie in der Lage, nicht nur rnit den Synthetasen, sondern auch rnit Ribosomen und mRNA in spezifischer Weise in Wechselwirkung zu treten.
