According to a recently published review by Nicklas et al, 28 weight loss has a direct effect on adipose tissue, which not only decreases the production of proinflammatory mediators such as IL-6 and TNF-a, but also increases the production of anti-inflammatory mediators such as IL-10 and IL-1 receptor antagonist. In the present study, we cannot exclude the possibility that MHO individuals might experience weight loss-induced improvement in their anti-inflammatory profiles during intervention, although the improvement in proinflammatory profiles was not evident in this study.…”
