“…Although an increase in plasma levels of MDA, a marker of lipid peroxidation, in the postmenopausal period has been previously demonstrated [18][19][20], to the best of our knowledge this has been the first study to demonstrate menopause-related increase in plasma AOPP levels -a novel marker of oxidative protein damage reported to be associated with increased cardiovascular risk. In our study, mean plasma AOPP levels were significantly higher in postmenopausal as compared to premenopausal women, suggesting that it can be used as a marker in studies investigating cardiovascular risk in postmenopausal period.…”
