Behaviour Of Reactive Powder Concrete Hollow Core Columns Strengthened With Carbon Fiber Reinforced Polymer Under Eccentric Loading

Abstract: The behavior of hollow-core columns composed of reactive powder concrete (RPC) contained by a circular carbon fiber reinforced polymer (CFRP) tube is investigated numerically in this work. This research used circular hollow core column samples with an outside diameter of 20.6 cm, an interior diameter of 9cm, and a height of 80cm. These examples have been created utilizing 116 MPa reactive powder concrete. Nine groupings of specimens were created. A control set of nine unconfined hollow columns with stirrups st… Show more

“…The parametric study evaluated the influence of several opening sizes with/without CFRP on the STM, the load-deflection response, and the stress distribution of the RC deep beam. The finite element model, used in the study, has been validated in several previously published works [29][30][31].…”

“…The two-dimensional truss elements can be used in axisymmetric models to represent components, such as bolts or connectors [33]. Several studies [29][30][31]34] have adopted this mathematical representation to represent the steel reinforcement due to the identical rep-…”

“…There is a current demand for strengthening numerous reinforced concrete (RC) structures, particularly in developing nations (Al-Khafaji et al, 2021;Ali et al, 2022;Falah et al, 2020). The process of demolishing old buildings and constructing new ones is both financially burdensome and time intensive.…”

“…These benefits encompass a remarkable capacity for confinement when utilized in the form of a wrapping, exceptional stiffness and strength, extended durability, resistance to corrosion, adjustable thermal features, non-magnetic characteristics, and a lightweight composition (Al-Mekhlafi et al, 2020;Huang et al, 2020;Sayed-Ahmed et al, 2018;Xu et al, 2020). The influence of various parameters on the structural behavior of reinforced concrete (RC) columns strengthened with carbon fiber-reinforced polymer (CFRP) sheets is well-documented in the literature (Dundar et al, 2015;El Maaddawy, 2009;Falah et al, 2020;M W Falah et al, 2022;. Among these variables, the mechanical characteristics of CFRP play a crucial role.…”
