Behavioral Patterns of Supply and Demand Sides of Health Services for the Elderly in Sustainable Digital Transformation: A Mixed Methods Study

Abstract: The aging transformation of digital health services faces issues of how to distinguish influencing factors, redesign services, and effectively promote measures and policies. In this study, in-depth interviews were conducted, and grounded theory applied to open coding, main axis coding, and selective coding to form concepts and categories. Trajectory equifinality modeling clarified the evolution logic of digital transformation. Based on the theory of service ecology, a digital health service aging model was con… Show more

“…In addition, substantial research has been conducted on the relationship between supply and demand for elderly care resources (such as healthcare services for older adults) [ 12 , 29 ], which is an essential index to reflect the allocation of elderly care resources. Coupling theory is one of significant tools to explore the coupling between supply and demand and can provide scientific perspectives to reasonably regulate supply and demand [ 30 ].…”

“…Zhu & Lin (2022) proposed a demand-oriented approach to provide diversified community-based elderly care services in terms of service supply and analyzed the feasibility of community-embedded elderly care in terms of sustainability to provide comprehensive care for the medical and nursing population (Zhu & Lin, 2022). Since the cognitive decline of the elderly limits their access to public services such as health in the digital environment, Zhou et al (2022) redesigned health services in a digital and age-appropriate manner from the perspective of the supply side of public services to bridge the "digital divide" on the demand side of the elderly and provide quality and convenient digital health services to the elderly (Zhou et al, 2022). Despite the increasing number of studies on the matching of supply and demand in health care integration communities.…”

“…In the context that medical care and health care are equally emphasized, Ma et al (2021) conducted a study on chronic disease care models for the elderly in the context of integrated health care and explored the effectiveness and value of combining extended care with comfort care based on health care (Zhou et al, 2022). With the development of the integration of healthcare and elderly care, community palliative care is receiving more and more academic attention as a new specialized medical field that aims to effectively address individual care needs (Ma et al, 2021).…”
