Abstract:The base of the behavioral mechanism responsible for trophic differentiation in fish is determined: during feeding, specialized benthivores use space more selectively, while in nonspecialized fish, accidental components play an important role in the foraging behavior that determines the difference in its efficiency in the compared groups of fish species. Consequently, the specialized fish are able to optimize their behavior at a lower stability of the food distribution. The mechanism of density regulation base… Show more
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
