“…O número de atos descritos para essa espécie difere do número encontrado em outras do mesmo gênero, como P. annularis com 14 atos descritos (Strassmann 1981); 34 e 36 em P. chinensis antennalis (Perez, 1905) nos estágios de pré-e pós-emergência, respectivamente (Kasuya 1983a(Kasuya , 1983b; 37 em P. fuscatus variatus (Cresson, 1933) (Post et al 1988); 27 para P. dominulus (Theraulaz et al 1990); 24 em P. lanio (Fabricius, 1975) (Giannotti & Machado 1999) e 19 e 18 em P. versicolor, respectivamente (Sinzato & Prezoto 2000) e (Zara & Balestieri 2000), 37 em P. ferreri (Saussure, 1853) (Sinzato 2002) e 43 em P. simillimus (Zikán, 1951) (Grazinoli 2006). Desta forma, o etograma comparativo das rainhas e operárias de P. c. canadensis revela que esta espécie não difere das demais estudadas, quanto ao padrão comportamental do gênero Polistes.…”

“…If the first possibility is the case, a hypothesis can be presented in which independent foraging together with area-concentrated searching of prey by each forager (Suzuki 1978;Kasuya 1980) is a mechanism to fit the spatial distribution of foraging efforts of workers to that of prey. Independent foraging of workers and area-concentrated searching result in a large amount of foraging effort (time) directed toward a specific clump of prey.…”

“…All the wasps observed were marked for individual recognition (for marking procedures, see Kasuya 1980). Preliminary tracking of 8 workers in the field over a total of 20 h failed to give any indication of recruitment to food sources.…”
