Behavioral DEVS metamodeling

Abstract: A variety of metamodeling concepts, methods, and tools are available to today's modeling and simulation community. The Model Driven Architecture (MDA) framework enables modelers to develop platform independent models which can be transformed to platform-specific models. Considering model development according to the MDA framework, structural metamodeling is simpler as compared to behavioral metamodeling. In this paper, we shed light on and introduce behavioral metamodelingfor atomic DEVS model. Behavior specif… Show more

“…In an earlier study [4], we proposed a metamodel for the DEVS atomic model spanning the MDA concepts and techniques. We extend the core Eclipse Modeling Framework (EMF) [5] model with primitive notions for behavioral specifications to make behavioral modeling possible along with structural specifications.…”

“…For transforming the PIM into a hyPDEVS-specific PSM implementation using M2M transformation, we also need to formalize a meta-model for the hyPDEVS formalism. Several DEVS meta-models have been proposed in the literature [57,203,240,315]. Since most of them focus on Classic DEVS, we had to adapt these meta-models for hyPDEVS, shown in Figure 7.…”
