After the authors of this study encounter a series of peculiar examples of products and services that are not normally sold online in Canada, the authors assess the psychometric properties of net-enablement capability, as an internal rather than external factor, regarding the decision to implement online selling tools as technology innovation to achieve growth. According to the literature, other authors rarely consider internal factors when they assess the relationship between technology adoption and business model innovation. The study contributes to the continuous dialogue involving the Net-Enabled Business Innovation Cycle (NEBIC) model by analyzing online sellers and offline sellers in Canadian sectors with below-average rates of online selling adoption. The findings indicate that net-enablement capability is a significant internal factor that positively affects innovation in business models for Canadian online sellers across different sectors regardless of the level of online selling adoption rate.

First, we propose a deterministic age-structured epidemiological model to study the diffusion of e-commerce in Spain. Afterwards, we determine the parameters (death, birth and growth rates) of the underlying demographic model as well as the parameters (transmission of the use of ecommerce rates) of the proposed epidemiological model that best fit real data retrieved from the Spanish National Statistical Institute. Motivated by the two following facts: first the dynamics of acquiring the use of a new technology as e-commerce is mainly driven by the feedback after interacting with our peers (family, friends, mates, mass media, etc.), hence having a certain delay, and second the inherent uncertainty of sampled real data and the social complexity of the phenomena under analysis, we introduce aftereffect and stochastic perturbations in the initial deterministic model. This leads to a delayed stochastic model for e-commerce. We then investigate sufficient conditions in order to guarantee the stability in probability of the equilibrium point of the dynamic e-commerce delayed stochastic model. Our theoretical findings are numerically illustrated using real data.

Abstract. Navigation behaviour can be considered as one of the most crucial aspects of user behaviour in an electronic commerce environment, which is very good indicator of user's interests either in the process of browsing or purchasing. Revealing user navigation patterns is very helpful in finding out a way for increasing sale, turning the most browsers into buyers, keeping costumer's attention, loyalty, adjusting and improving the interface in order to boost the user experience and interaction with the system. In this regard, this research has identified the most common user navigation patterns across information networks, illustrated through the example of an electronic bookstore. A behavioural-based model that provides profound knowledge about the processes of navigation is proposed, specifically examined for different types of users, automatically identified and clustered into two clusters according to their navigational behaviour. The developed model is based on stochastic modelling using the concept of Generalized Stochastic Petri Nets which complex solution relies on Continuous Time Markov Chain. As a result, calculation of several performance measures is performed, such as: expected time spent in a transient tangible marking, cumulative sojourn time spent in a transient tangible marking, total number of visits in a transient tangible marking etc.
