Background Parkinson’s disease (PD) is a neurodegenerative condition of the central nervous system that causes motor and non-motor dysfunctions. The disease affects 1% of the world population over 60 years and remains cureless. Knowledge and monitoring of PD are essential to provide better living conditions for patients. Thus, diagnostic exams and monitoring of the disease can generate a large amount of data from a given patient. This study proposes the development and usability evaluation of an integrated system, which can be used in clinical and research settings to manage biomedical data collected from PD patients. Methods A system, so-called Sistema Integrado de Dados Biomédicos (SIDABI) (Integrated Biomedical Data System), was designed following the model-view-controller (MVC) standard. A modularized architecture was created in which all the other modules are connected to a central security module. Thirty-six examiners evaluated the system usability through the System Usability Scale (SUS). The agreement between examiners was measured by Kendall’s coefficient with a significance level of 1%. Results The free and open-source web-based system was implemented using modularized and responsive methods to adapt the system features on multiple platforms. The mean SUS score was 82.99 ± 13.97 points. The overall agreement was 70.2%, as measured by Kendall’s coefficient (p < 0.001). Conclusion According to the SUS scores, the developed system has good usability. The system proposed here can help researchers to organize and share information, avoiding data loss and fragmentation. Furthermore, it can help in the follow-up of PD patients, in the training of professionals involved in the treatment of the disorder, and in studies that aim to find hidden correlations in data.

The internet development and the consequent change in communication forms have strengthened as online social networks, increasing the involvement of people with this media and making consumers of products and services, which are more informed and demanding for companies. This context has given rise to Social CRM, which can be put into practice by means of electronic eletronic word of mouth platforms, enable web sharing of comments and evaluations about companies, defining their reputation. However, most electronic word of mouth platforms do not provide information for extracting your information, making it difficult to analyze the data. To satisfy this gap, a system was developed to capture and automatically summarize the data of the companies registered in the eBit platform.Resumo: O desenvolvimento da internet e a consequente mudança das formas de comunicação fortaleceram as redes sociais online, aumentando o envolvimento das pessoas com este meio de comunicação e tornando os consumidores de produtos e serviços, os quais estão mais informados e exigentes para com as empresas. Este contexto deu origem ao CRM Social, que pode ser colocado em prática por meio das plataformas de boca a boca eletrônico, possibilitam o compartilhamento na web de comentários e avaliações sobre as empresas, definindo a sua reputação. No entanto, a maioria das plataformas de boca a boca eletrônico não oferece nenhuma interface para extração das suas informações, dificultando a análise dos dados. Para preencher esta lacuna, foi desenvolvido um sistema para capturar e sumarizar de forma automática os dados das empresas cadastradas na plataforma eBit.

Model-view-controller (MVC) design pattern is employed as software architecture. This pattern has the objective of separating the code into three elements, maintaining layers with defined functions. MVC pattern is used to structure and organize code in software development; therefore, it is an important topic in the teaching of software engineering. However, understanding and implementing this design pattern is not easy for students. Therefore, this investigation proposes a Computer Aided Software Engineering tool called inDev, which is capable of generating an application based on an Entity Relationship (ER) diagram, generating the model, the controller, and the view.The student can interact with the system by visualizing the changes produced by the inputs in the ER diagram in the output as the MVC architecture. To test the scope of the project as a teaching strategy, an experiment was designed with a control group and an experimental group. The experimental group that used the application, inDev, showed better results in learning than the control group, which did not use it. The inDev tool proved to be a useful educational tool for dealing with a topic like the MVC design pattern.
