Abstract-The presence of malicious nodes in the ad hoc and sensor networks poses serious security attacks during routing which affects the network performance. To address such attacks, numerous researchers have proposed defense techniques using a human behavior pattern called trust. Among existing solutions, direct observations based trust models have gained significant attention in the research community. In this paper, the authors propose a Self Adaptive Trust Model (SATM) of secure geographic routing in wireless sensor networks (WSNs). Unlike conventional weight based trust models, SATM intelligently assigns the weights associated with the network activities. These weights are applied to compute the final trust value. SATM considers direct observations to restrict the reputation based attacks. Due to the flexible and intelligent weight computation, SATM dynamically detects the malicious nodes and direct the traffic towards trustworthy nodes. SATM has been incorporated into Greedy Perimeter Stateless Routing (GPSR) protocol. Simulation results using the network simulator NS-2 have shown that GPSR with SATM is robust against detecting malicious nodes.

Cryptography based security solutions are not enough for WSNs when there are attacks from interior, which are caused by compromised nodes. Trust management can deal with this problem efficiently, and enhance the security, reliability and impartiality of the system. This paper gives a detailed introduction to the characteristics, the taxonomy, and the design of the framework, the vulnerability analysis, the attack models and the countermeasures.Among which the design of the framework, including the trust factors, the computation models and the application of trust, is the core of a trust management system and is given a deep insight into. In the end, several typical trust management systems are introduced. A panoramic view and detailed analysis of current trust based systems in WSNs are given.

While the synthesis of amide bonds is now one of the most reliable organic reactions, functionalization of amide carbonyl groups has been a long-standing issue due to their high stability. As an ongoing program aimed at practical transformation of amides, we developed a direct nucleophilic addition to N-alkoxyamides to access multisubstituted amines. The reaction enabled installation of two different functional groups to amide carbonyl groups in one pot. The N-alkoxy group played important roles in this reaction. First, it removed the requirement for an extra preactivation step prior to nucleophilic addition to activate inert amide carbonyl groups. Second, the N-alkoxy group formed a five-membered chelated complex after the first nucleophilic addition, resulting in suppression of an extra addition of the first nucleophile. While diisobutylaluminum hydride (DIBAL-H) and organolithium reagents were suitable as the first nucleophile, allylation, cyanation, and vinylation were possible in the second addition including inter- and intramolecular reactions. The yields were generally high, even in the synthesis of sterically hindered α-trisubstituted amines. The reaction exhibited wide substrate scope, including acyclic amides, five- and six-membered lactams, and macrolactams.
