Beetroot mineral composition affected by mineral and organic fertilization

Abstract: In modern agriculture, besides providing high and stable yields, it is imperative to produce products with a high nutritive quality. The goal of this study was to determine the effect of different fertilization regimes on the macro- and micronutrients in beetroot. A 3-year field trial was set up according to a Latin square method with four types of fertilization (unfertilized control, 50 t stable manure ha −1 , and 500 and 1,000 kg NPK 5-20-30 ha −1 ). The mineral … Show more

“…The concentration of Ag, Co, Cr, Li, Mo, Ni, Pb in conventional and organic beetroots samples were determined under the LOQ ( Table 4 ). The observed variability in the analysed mineral concentration might be a result of the differences in plants’ geographical origin [ 34 ], fertilization [ 35 , 36 ], as well as varietal differences [ 37 ]. In the case of dietary supplements, Se, Cu, Ag, Co, Cr, Ba, Li, Mo, Ni, Pb concentrations were under the LOQ ( Table 5 ).…”

“…Growth, yield, and quality of the fruits like a tomato can be encouraged through minerals like Lebosol-Ca and Mg. The Ca and Mg deficiency in plants caused alterations in growth, physiological, biochemical, and yield attributes, reducing fruit productivity (Petek et al, 2019). Therefore, the current research was planned to demonstrate the efficacy of Lebosol-Ca and Mg in tomato plants by studying growth, physiological, biochemical, reactive oxygen species, yield, and quality traits.…”

“…Adopting appropriate fertilizer management strategies results in significant economic benefits to producers [18]. Agriculture, as an economic sector, should operate profitably while adhering to the fundamental principles of sustainable agricultural production, with minimal environmental effect and judicious application of fertilizers [19]. In addition to the nutrient requirements, the genetic characteristics of a variety determine the amount of yield.…”
