Abstract

The growth of beekeeping focused on honey production is notable. In the last few years, the beekeeping sector recorded revenues that exceeded R$ 470 million during 2016 (more than 24 thousand tons of honey exported). However, bees have suffered from the action of predators, lack of flora, water and climate, resulting in a drop in honey production. The climate and temperature are external factors that directly interfere with the hive's thermoregulation causing losses of the hives due to abandonment. This article presents a low cost system whose objective is to monitor the internal temperature of rational boxes that contain honey bee hives, in addition to the external temperature corresponding to the breeding environment of these animals for remote and non-invasive control. The hardware part of the system is made up of an ESP8266 microcon-troller board that uses two waterproof DS18B20 temperature sensors for data collection whose storage is done on a cloud platform.
